Music Video Release: Pulp, Spowder

So in case you haven’t noticed, I really can’t say enough about Spowder.  Apparently, I’ve got a fever, and the only cure, is more Spowder.  They’re a lot like cowbells that way.  But if you haven’t been keeping up, the bands last album Health Palm was released last spring and has been the talk of the New Jersey scene.  Last fall, Spowder released the first music video from the album for “Miracle Grow,” and similar to that release, the video for “Pulp” is is just as wacked out and irreverent.

Spowder Keeps On Keeping On

I’ve been told not to post shit at 1am on Sunday morning and that it’s better to have a consistent schedule, post regularly either at the beginning of the day or at lunch time on a week day.  Those are great tips if you’re measuring your success in terms of Facebook likes and follows.  Honestly, I don’t really give a shit and I’m assuming that everyone else that saw Spowder tonight at In The West is also probably still up.

Spowder Releases Miracle Grow Music Video

Well folks, looks like miracles do come true.

This one comes in the form of the trippy “Miracle Grow” music video from Spowder, off their April release, Health Palm.  Spowder’s one of the local DIY bands that’s been creating a ton of buzz in the past year having released an absolute killer album on both State Champion Records and Sniffling Indie Kids, recently announced they will be playing with the Screaming Females at Monty Hall for the second straight year, were one of the headlining bands at the Second Annual North Jersey Indie Rock Festival, and now approach the close of 2017 with this video for their most hard hitting track.  Check it out below…

The Second Annual North Jersey Indie Rock Festival Recap

On September 23, Sniffling Indie Kids and Mint 400 Records hosted the Second Annual North Jersey Indie Rock Festival at Cathedral Hall in Jersey City, featuring twenty-four bands across five different local record labels.  N.J. Racket was fortunate enough to sponsor the event alongside the world-renowned Jonathan LeVine Projects.

As I had been looking forward to this event for months, it is hard for me to really explain what that day was like and how the experience was to me on a personal level.  I got to work closely with Sniffling Indie Kids and Mint 400 while they planned the event, and while my personal involvement was minimal, witnessing the level of effort and dedication they put into lifting this event to its full potential and to create a space and atmosphere that was positive, safe, inclusive, and (most of all) fun was truly inspiring.  Before we o any further, I want to take a moment here at the beginning to say thank you to everyone that participated in the event, from the festival planners, performers, promoters, vendors, and audience members.  These types of things cannot exist without everyone’s passion and participation.

Sniffling Indie Kids Announce North Jersey Indie Rock Fest Lineup

The time has come to announce the first group of bands for The North Jersey Indie Rock Festival set for September 23 at Cathedral Hall in Jersey City.  We have already given you the two sponsors for the event, Jonathan LeVine Projects and, your’s truly, N.J. Racket.  Now, we present the lineup of bands from, festival co-founder, Sniffling Indie Kids:

State Champion Records Has Arrived

State Champion Records celebrated their label’s launch with a show at WFMU’s Monty Hall on July 9, and goddamn do they know how to throw a party!  The show featured a stacked lineup of local favorites Spowder, Snakeskin, and Decoration.  State Champion Records has only been in existence since April of this year,  and they’ve wasted absolutely no time making a major impact on the local scene.
